Raj Patel supports our practice for Dental Implant Surgery (along with Sedation Treatment). He qualified from Sheffield Dental School with Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 1992. He then completed his Vocational Training in General Dental Practice.
Over the years Raj’s experience in General Dentistry instigated his interest in full mouth restoration and reconstruction, leading him to later develop skills in Orthodontics (braces),Dental Occlusion (how teeth bite together), Dental Implant Surgery and Cosmetic Dental Surgery. To advance his surgical skills Raj worked in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Dundee Dental Hospital, where he gained his Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FDSRCS) in 1998 from the Royal college of Surgeons in Edinburgh. This involved treating injuries for the head and neck region.
Raj has been placing Dental Implants since 2004 and gained experience in all aspects of dental implant surgery from simple placement to complex cases involving bone grafts, sinus lifts, full mouth implants. Raj completed his training for implantology in the UK, USA, and Europe.
Raj has extensive experience in oral surgery and has also been providing dental treatment under sedation since 1998 both in a hospital and a practice environment. Following completion of a certificate course in Dental Mentoring with the FGDP Raj is now involved in training and mentoring fellow dentists in Advanced Dentistry with emphasis on Dental Implants.
His continued focus on full mouth reconstruction and restoration, means that patients interested in implant surgery, can take comfort in the fact that a full array of options will be presented to them alongside implant surgery to gain the best possible results.
In his spare time, Raj is also an avid reader, with subject matters from philosophy, science, religion to novels about crime, thrillers, science fiction to horror, Stephen King, Carl Sagan, and Dan Brown to name a few authors. He loves watching movies, recently taken up playing golf and enjoys discovering new gastronomic experiences. He is partial to a 6 mile morning run before he starts work to keep himself fit and alert and is also a keen traveller, his latest sojourn was to the Central Serengeti to watch lions hunting game.
